Elias Ghekiere (Hasselt, 1991) is a visual artist using painting, drawing, photographs and objects.
In his practice, the representation of materiality and the role of patterns in our aesthetic experience play a central role. The concept of crafts are key to this research, both conceptually and formally- as they can be seen as a culmination of time, knowledge and technology.
His body of work can be conceived as a collection, an attempt to achieve harmony through stylistic eclectism in different media. Here, the fissures between the interconnected artefacts are as important as the elements themselves.
